Folk singer Tomáš Kočko became known with his recitals introducing musicalized poesy of Ladislav Nezdařil, a poet writing in Beskydy Mountains highlander’s dialect. He popularized and discovered this Beskydy bard who dedicated his work to the mountains where he grew up, its inhabitants, traditions and famous heros from this region.  The songs based on poetic texts by Ladislav Nezdařil are big part of Kočko’s repertory which he’s been playing in musical formation “Tomáš Kočko & ORCHESTR" for years.

The second important part of his repertory is the original epic works inspired by rebellious theme, especially by the tales and songs about Ondráš, the legendary here of Beskydy Mountains. Since his breakthrough album called Hodovnice the repertory consists of songs thematically related to “rodnověří”, neo-pagan religious belief. The repertory is completed with unique adaptations of traditional Moravian folk songs.


In 1999 the debut album “HORNÍ CHLAPCI” (INDIES rec.1999) was published, the second CD “Do kamene tisane” or “ONDRÁŠ” (Indies rec. 2000), became a source of inspiration for later Polish theatre piece Ondraszek – master of Lysa Góra and followed by a tourist project called Ondrášovo-Ondraszkovo. There was the third album called “HODOVNICE” (Indies rec. 2001). The album “SADNÉ ZRNO” (TKA 2002) was published as an appendix to the fourth edition of poetic collection “Horní chlapci” by L. Nezdařil. The album called “DO TANCA!” (2003) was nominated for the Angel award 2003 by the Academy of popular music.
CD POPLÓR (Indies rec. 2006) has been appearing in Top 20 WMCE Charts for two months and has won an Angel award 2006 – The album of the year in world music category.
